Functional DVD player at great price!! |
The Medion multi-regional player seemed too good to be true to me - £39.99 inc. delivery, plays all formats? But it actually does! It arrived within two days of placing the order and so far has played everything I have asked it to - UK DVDs, American DVDs, SVCDs, VCDs, MP3s, CD-RW, J-PEGs.. Im not the worlds most patient person, or the most technical, but I got this straight out of the box, plugged it in, connected the scart to the t.v and that was all there was to it. There is an instruction booklet, which will tell you about features such as zoom and angles to select different camera angles on compatible discs but truthfully I didnt need it - I found it a very user-friendly machine with a stylish, slim remote control. The player itself is quite portable as its very lightweight, but it also has options for more technical people than myself regarding sound capability. Annoyingly this is better than my existing, more expensive DVD player. Im going to buy one for my sister - as a first DVD player its very cheap and cheerful.

Excellent value for money |
This DVD player is an absolute bargain. It plays pretty much all the type of disk you would want. So far I have played DVDs (Region 2), audio CDs, MP3s on CD-R, VCDs, and MPG files on CD-R. The picture quality seems fine to me.It comes with a remote control and batteries, a scart lead and the back has scart out, s-video out, composite video out, digital audio out (both co-ax and optical) and 6 analogue audio out for 5.1. The manual has 25 A4 pages in English, which dont go into huge detail, but are enough to get you started. When playing CD-Rs of MP3s, you only get to see the first 8 characters of the folder and file names, and you really need the TV on (perhaps unless you put all the MP3s in the root directory). A better user interface for MP3 CDs is my only criticism, but for the price, I can only give this a maximum rating.

Fantastic little player. |
This is one heck of a good deal here! The player is slim, trim, and plays just about anything you throw at it. I have tried it with region one DVDs, region 2, and even region 4, and they all played smoothly on my TV. This is quite a feat as my TV is PAL only and the player has to convert the region 1 NTSC standard to a PAL compatible signal but it still produces an excellent and very sharp picture. It also plays my home-burned mp3 discs, JPEG pictures, and standard CD audio discs with typical german efficiency. Ive even tried it with a few cheap DVD-R discs and it came up trumps again. Now I wont say the player is entirely perfect, the labels for the buttons on the handset are printed just a tad too small for my liking, and the disc tray is not the quietest in the world, but those are two tiny gripes for an excellent DVD player. You really do have a fantastic deal here, the player has teutonic solidity and all the sound and picture options you will ever need. What is more, you dont have to learn German to communicate with Medion customer services if anything goes wrong as they have an office in the UK. It really is no wonder this is flying off Amazons shelves!
